China puts up awareness ads to warn people about climate change

China is the world’s largest carbon emitter. It had advertised at several public places to warn people about climate change. The country encourage it people to plan future around low carbon development. This step is taken to draw people’s attention towards consequences of pollution.

Advertisements depicting pictures of Mumbai and other cities have been put up along the streets to show the results of high pollution.

Indian scientist helps find cure for malaria

An Indian scientist, who suffered from malaria as a child, is among a group of top international scientists which has identified a key protein that if targeted stops the disease, paving the way for new treatments.

Dr Mahmood Alam, from Jharkhand, is one of the authors of the new study published in the journal ‘Nature Communications’. According to WHO, malaria currently infects more than 200 million people worldwide and accounts for more than 500,000 deaths per year.

C-DoT’s WiFi products to ease connectivity in rural areas, hilly terrain

Two New broadband WiFi products had been developed by the government’s telecom research arm, Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), on the heels of launch of Digital India programme. One is long distance and second is solar-powered WiFi system. These are to ease connectivity issues in rural areas, hilly terrain, highways in dense vegetation and tunnels.

ISRO to launch five Satellites along with Antrix

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) along with Antrix will be launching five British Satellites. These five satellites will weigh nearly 1440 kg and will be launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota. The Satellites will be carried by Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).

UPSRTC first to have vehicle tracking system

Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has become the first corporation to have a vehicle tracking system for inter-city buses. This will led to reduction in accidents and deaths. UPSRTC is also in talks with state transports in Haryana, Rajasthan and Himachal to have a common bus travel card, apart from DMRC.

First MUDRA card launched under PMMY scheme.

Corporation bank launched the first MUDRA (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency) card under the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) scheme was launched on 4 July 2015. Three loan schemes are offered to the entrepreneurs under MUDRA based on their capacity to repay. “Shishu” scheme provides loan up to Rs.50,000, while “Kishore” scheme provides loan of Rs. 5 lakh. “Tarun” scheme gives a loan of Rs. 10 lakh. The MUDRA card facilitates the use and withdrawal of the working capital finance by micro entrepreneurs.
